Measurement Invariance for Cross-Cultural Comparison – workshop by dr Leslie Rutkowski

On December 14-17, 2014 PhD Students participated in workshop on “Measurement Invariance for Cross-Cultural Comparison” led by dr Leslie Rutkowski (Indiana University Bloomington; IEA Data Processing and Research Center).

The workshop was organized within the training project “Advanced analysis of large scale assessment data in education” funded by the Educational Research Institute, devoted to psychometric, methodological, and statistical issues for SWPS doctoral students.

An introduction to multilevel modeling – a lecture by prof. John Nezlek

An open lecture by prof. John Nezlek (College of William & Mary ) entitled “An introduction to multilevel modeling” took place on October 15, 2014.

The lecture was organized within the training project “Advanced analysis of large scale assessment data in education” funded by the Educational Research Institute, devoted to psychometric, methodological, and statistical issues for SWPS doctoral students.

Item Response Theory – lecture and workshop by dr Eugene Gonzales

An open lecture by dr Eugene Gonzales (IEA Data Processing and Research Center) took place on September 25, 2014 and regarded „The role of IRT for Evaluating Questionnaire Items and Scale Properties”. In addition, on September 25-28, 2014 PhD Students participated in workshop on “Item Response Theory (IRT) for Proficiency Estimates”.

Lecture and workshop were organized within the training project “Advanced analysis of large scale assessment data in education” funded by the Educational Research Institute, devoted to psychometric, methodological, and statistical issues for SWPS doctoral students.

International Seminar on Aging, Depression and Control of Cognitive and Affective Processes

It is our pleasure to invite faculty members and students of SWPS to the "International Seminar on Aging, Depression and Control of Cognitive and Affective Processes", organized by the Interdisciplinary Center for Applied Cognitive Studies (ICACS). The Seminar is a series of lectures and workshops delivered by cognitive psychologists from renowned Swiss, German, Portuguese and American universities, accompanied by presentations of researchers and PhD students from ICACS and Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology. Their research focuses on how control of cognitive and affective processes is influenced by factors such as aging and depression, and they study these phenomena using behavioral, psychophysiological and neuroimaging methods.

Sciex Fellowship

logo_sciex.gifIt is our pleasure to announce that our Center received a Sciex-NMS grant (a Swiss contribution to new member states of the European Union). Within this grant, Dr. Szymon Wichary received a one-year post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Basel. Moreover, the grant covers visits of prof. Joerg Rieskamp (Head of the Economic Psychology Lab at Basel University), who will give a series of lectures and seminars in our Center, and visits of prof. Grzegorz Sędek (Director of ICACS), who will give a series of lectures and seminars at the University of Basel

Research Methods in Cognitive Studies (REMICS 2010)

The second edition of the winter school was devoted the domains of attention and working memory as well as executive functions, such as planning, reasoning, reading with comprehension, or problem solving - often applying modern computerized methods and neuroimaging techniques.
