The Research Methods in Cognitive Studies (REMICS 2009) Winter School took place in Zakopane (Poland) from 15th to 28th February, 2009. During the first Winter School, novel and advanced research methods, based on latest developments in cognitive and neuroscience methodology were taught - these are usually not included in such advanced and interdisciplinary way in regular University curricula for graduate students.
The multidisciplinary approach was underlined by the fact that among international group of prominent lecturers were specialists in cognitive, social and clinical psychology; cognitive aging and cognitive rehabilitation; psychiatry and neurology; and cognitive and clinical neuroscience.
This meeting served as a unique opportunity for following experts: Prof. Elizabeth Maylor, Prof. Reinhold Kliegl, Prof. Soledad Ballesteros, Prof. José Manuel Reales Avilés, Ulrich von Hecker, Ph.D., Dr. med. Eduard Kraft, Prof. Aljoscha Neubauer, Malgorzata Kossowska, Ph.D., Prof. Grzegorz Sedek, Prof. Elżbieta Szeląg, Sylwia Bedyńska, Ph.D., Aneta Brzezicka, Ph.D, Izabela Krejtz, Ph.D, Szymon Wichary, Ph.D to share their knowledge and experience regarding these issues.
The Winter School brought together young scientists: P. D. and M. A. students from different backgrounds and countries. Held at a hotel situated in a very picturesque place in Zakopane, a charming small city below Tatra Mountains, the school was not only great scientific event but also extraordinary occasion to make acquaintances with new friends and discover the beauty of winter in a good company.
